Philosophy of Music Education
I believe…
-
Music is essential to being human – therefore, it is something every human being deserves to experience and participate in.
-
Teaching must begin with relationships.
-
Creating a lifelong love of music in students is second only to relationships in music education.
-
All students deserve to experience success and the fruits of hard work, and a teacher’s role is in part to help them reach that point.
-
Music education is not passive, but demands involvement. Every person in the room must be engaged for music education to be at its best.
-
Music education is participation in something far beyond a classroom. It is participation in a universal language that can connect people who would otherwise be strangers.
-
Music can be a source of hope, no matter who you are and what you are experiencing.
